Summary:

This guide explains how to share your covered Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) with Transfix. If you utilize Scheduled Auto Insurance, Transfix must have your covered vins on file and each shipment will require a vin to be reported.

Transfix uses a 3rd party service called Highway to verify insurance information for carriers. If you utilize Scheduled Auto Insurance, you may have to have your insurance company release your schedule of Vins to Highway to get onboarded onto our platform.

How do I update my VIN?

Navigate to the "My Loads" page. Click on a shipment to get to the shipment detail page. Under Assignment > Truck, if you start typing in the VIN, it will auto populate the verified vin we have on file. You will see a green checkmark for confirmation when added.

If the VIN you are entering does not populate, it means the VIN provided is not on file. You will see the following message:

We will need this VIN to be released to Highway. Please contact your insurance provider, and ask them to release your Scheduled Vin's to Highway. You can use the email template below to request that your Vins be shared.

Here is a sample template you can you use to send to your insurance:
-----

Hello,
My name:
My DOT number:
My policy number:
I’m working with a company called Transfix who requires VIN documentation for carriers who have scheduled auto policies. Can you please send my VIN documentation to their partner Highway at service@highway.com ?
-----

Is VIN required for any auto policy?
It is not necessary if your vehicle is not listed as a scheduled auto.

Why is this needed?
We are required to collect the Scheduled Vins associated with your carrier, and verify Vins for each shipment if you utilize Schedule Auto Insurance

Onboarding:
If we do not currently have your Vins on file, we will ask you to have your insurance company release them to Highway during the onboarding process. This will help expedite the application review process.

If your carrier is Active but still missing VINs, you will see the following on message your account. Please reach out to your insurance company to request they release the Vins to Highway
